Leash was broken but entity is still leashed to your character

I was carrying an iron golem on a leash.I tapped him with the right mouse button to release.
The leash disappeared,however golem was still attached to me and was flying after me when I moved.
The bug was removed by leashing then releasing the golem again.
Don't know how to reproduce this bug,because I tried reproducing it and everything was as intended to be.
