Bone meal does not spawn nether plants on nylium

The bug

When used on normal overworld grass, bone meal spawns grass and flowers, but in the nether it does nothing when applied to the Nylium blocks. I expected it to spawn the new roots and sprouts but they didn't appear. Not sure if this is intended or not but it seems odd to me.
