Falling into the Void with Night Vision effect in the Nether causes everything to go black.

I had Night Vision effect while exploring the Nether in this snapshot. Then I accidentally fell into the Void, which causes the items in my hotbar, the inventory and the texts went black. I don't know if my skin went black or not.
