Biome fog shift is very abrupt in the Nether

For example, it's most noticeable going between the soul sand blue and crimson forest red fog. If I'm not mistaken, in the overworld these sky/fog transitions, such as from swamp to plains, are somewhat gradual, but in the Nether it jumps completely from one color to the other with no transition.
