Standing on a berry bush and harvesting it stops you from taking damage.

I have only tried it in 1.15.2, don't know about other versions.

So, plant a sweet berry bush, then bonemeal it until it's fully grown.  Then stand on the berry bush. You'll take damage like normal, but once you harvest it, it will stop damaging you.
