Bed says hostile mobs nearby dispite the fact that there are no entities in a 20 block radius

I tried to sleep several times, but i was getting the "hostile mobs are close by" message. I then ran a command that gave the glowing effect to all entities around the bed in a 20 block radius. The wierd thing was that it only gave glowing to me and my nearby pet fish. It said "Applied effect Glowing to 2 targets". This makes no sense and is very frustrating (like phantoms spawning on mushroom islands).
