/particle does not appear from a small distance

Hello, I am a beginner mapmaker and have been working on a map for the past few days.

Yesterday i hooked up a /particle command and it worked, cool. But as i walked away (about 3 blocks) my particles disappeared. i walked forward a couple blocks and they came back.

This is a huge problem for me because the player is supposed to be about 100 blocks away from the particles.
