cannot open game launcher

We hit play on the Minecraft Launcher Java Edition which we just purchased this weekend and we get a error   GLFW err 65542 does not support open GL.   visit aka/ms/mcdriver   

 

I am not sure my daughter installed the newly purchased game correctly.  May I delete the entire game and then put back onto our computer?   Or is there some other way to get this new game to work?
