Trap doors at world height limit can't be opened

Trap doors at the world height build limit can't be opened. When attempting to open them, they instantly shut and produce a "Height limit for building is 256 blocks" message.  Note that this was discovered in the Nether.  I have not tested it in the Overworld or the End.  Pictured below.
