Java remains open after closing the game

After closing Minecraft from my new 2019 16" MacBook Pro, occasionally I notice my player has seemly "died" in my survival world in a biome where mobs cannot spawn.  Also, I started noticing sometimes my fans begin spinning loudly for no reason, and nothing obvious shows java running Until I open activity manager and notice Java is taking 140% of the CPU power with no obvious signs of the game open. Please fix this! Also affects 1.14.x
