Issue with Door Placing on Leaves

There seems to be an issue where placing doors on leaves creates a "paradox" of sorts, where it simultaneously allows me to place it yet appears as only half a door. Once I actually use the doors, however, they completely disappear from existence. The only way I know how to get the doors back is to disconnect and open the world again and the doors are back in my inventory. I'm not sure whether or not I'm supposed to be able to place doors on leaves, but it would be very cool if I could. Thank you.
