arm is stuck in the up position in single and multiplayer mode

In every game mode and in single and multiplayer my arm will not move at all to preform any tasks it is completly stuck in the up right position this has been occuring on version 1.5.2 I have tried to uninstall and reinstall minecraft to fix the problem but have had no success in fixing the problem.
