Gray screen launcher

Upon launching minecraft, I am presented with a gray screen instead of the launcher. There are no buttons, no anything, just gray, though it does eventually go black.

I have no mods, and this is a fresh installation on a new machine. I have the latest version of java.

I have already placed a support question (94854) over a month ago, with only a confirmation of reception as a reply.
