Written books can't be formatted

Obtain a Book and Quill.
Try to insert the "§" symbol.
The "§" symbol will not appear, regardless of whether you copy & paste it or manually type its alt code. Copied and pasted text that includes it will be unformatted - E.G. "§oHello, world§r" will appear as "Hello, world" without any formatting.
