command not working

Minecraft 1.15.1 command /execute if entity @a[(coordinates of block)] run (insert command here)

to detect when a player is somewhere not working, wont do anything, I'm using tutorials to learn command, doing it just the same, wont work. I need it to work for a map im making, my first map.
