Activated Power Rail does not activate redstone dust

Activated Power Rail does not activate adjacent redstone dust.

What I expected to happen was...:

I expected the Power Rail to activate the adjacent redstone dust when the rail activated.

What actually happened was...:

Nothing happened.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a Detector Rail, then a Power Rail, then a Detector Rail. Place redstone dust next to the Power Rail.
2. Place a minecart on one of the Detector Rails and the Power Rail will activate.
3. The Redstone Dust remains unpowered.
