Bee nests not dropping honeycomb when sheared

When the bee nest is sheared (it is level 5, I already checked) it does not drop honeycombs. I have checked above the tree, below the floor, and all the blocks around me. There just isn't any honeycombs. Is there something obvious that I am missing?
