I'm not sure if this is a bug but

So i opened minecraft i played my new world abd i found a creeper i thought it would follow me when it sees me but when it saw me it did not do anything i was like a block in front of it and it did not explode and i am reporting this because when i played the 1.4.7 - 1.5.1 this did not happen
