Silverfish cannot infest stair, slab or wall variants of blocks they can infest

Since they can infest the base versions of these blocks, one may expect them to be able to infest them when carved into other shapes, however this is not the case, which for example can be used exploitatively by building stuff completely out of slabs as silverfish-proofing.
