Cant connect to lan server! I try to edit afterwords and minecraft crashes.

It won't ;et me get on a lan server my friend set up, and we are in the same room! When I try to connect it says Failed to connect to server: Connection timed out. Why? When I tryed to edit minecraft crashed and said to give you this, C:\Users\Maus\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\crash-reports\crash-2013-05-28_10.01.51-client.txt
