Rain appearing in a cave when i pick up an item

I was in a cave in 1.5 pre 6 and i decided to mine the coal. when i picked it up for a frame the rain would appear in the cave. I later found out that if you pick up any item that would happen. I am not using any texture packs or mods. and if this helps my resolution was 1920x1080
