Food items and slime and honey blocks can not be seen under water

 

What I expected to happen was...:
I killed a fish and expected to see raw fish floating in the water but I only saw them when it reached the surface. I could only see one half of it because the other half was in the water.

What actually happened was:
I killed some fish and didn't see any drops so I dropped other food items, honey and slime block and a water bucket and I also couldn't see them in the water.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a water source on the ground.
2. Drop some of the said items into it.
3. See the problem.
