Entities are rendered too dark when in the ground

The bug

When a player or an entity is partially inside of the ground, it is rendered too dark.

To reproduce

1. Be in Creative mode
2. Press F3+N
3. Go down a bit
4. Press F3+N again
5. Press F5
   → Your player model is rendered too dark
