Show chunk borders is visible through blocks

When the chunk boundries are shown using F3 + G the borders are visible through blocks 

What I expected to happen was...:
For the chunk borders to be viewable when no blocks are in front of these borders

What actually happened was...:
The chunk borders were shown over the blocks

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press F3 + G
