Saddle/Armor interface is buggy

Occasionally, when I right click on a tamed horse (does not matter whether or not i am sneaking or have anything in my hand, or if the horse does or does not have a saddle already equipped), it will open the new armor/saddle interface rather than letting me ride the horse. I will also be forced to face a different direction, regardless of what direction I was facing before. There does not seem to be a set pattern as to what direction I will face. The problem will persist for several minutes before disappearing.

Happened in both creative and survival mode.
