Item/flat entity Sprite error

items and other two dimensional entities have an issue where they seem to be bordered by transparency, or a black box. in the former case, the item/entity makes water behind it disappear, and in the latter the sprite has a black box around it, which cannot be seen through. they both seem to require a specific angle and distance to be seen
