piston push 2 sand

place sand, piston, redstone and redstone torch as shown in picture
what i expect:
start active it, sand on right was pushed, the left one sand = 3 + 1(from right)
what it did:
sand on right AND left at the bottom was mixed and drop a sand
sand still remain 3
