Foxes will not spit out food items and it becomes stuck

I have several foxes and they will drop non-food items just fine, but they will not let go of any food items, it has been 'stuck' in their mouths for days now.

I tried making a new world and I still have the same problem, they will chew on the food item but it will never disappear.
