Bees don't deal damage if holding a flower when angering them

I was messing around in the new 1.15 snapshot, and wanted to see the bees attack. i was previously having them follow me with a flower, and still had it in my hand when i hit a bee. Their eyes turned red and they did their attack animation, but they didn't hurt me or lose their stinger. when I deselected the flower, they were able to hurt me like normal.
