redstone blocks being pushed upward with sticky piston will not retract back down

trying to create a hidden circuit that turns on a redstone lamp when night falls. the piston pushes up a redstone block that contacts with the redstone lamp when the time is set to night, however when day comes the piston refuses to retract even when there is no redstone power.
