Horse Duplication

I was playing on a "snapshot" multiplayer server when I was on a horse. I disconnected from the server while still on the horse. When I came back the there was an exact copy of my horse as well as the original. This also happened a second time. I am not sure if this also happens in single player. Thank you for your time.
