Bamboo won't grow if the next growth stage is adjcent to a glowstone block

I've been trying to build a farm recently, and I noticed bamboo was refusing to grow if there was a block of glowstone in the wall, and this was consistent in every example. All other bamboo will grow to as far as they can, except the one which has to grow past a block of glowstone.
