Game Freezes when Villagers enter a Nether Portal

When a Villager touches a Nether Portal, the world freezes. All block updates stop, chunk loading stops, items do not drop from blocks, mobs freeze, etc.

Once the freeze happens, a force close is the only way to stop it.

Blocks which produce particle effects still produce particles, as they seem to be unaffected.
