Cats go for beds that arent under them

So, I was on my server and i was caring 2 cats to my base and my friends base was underground and also blocked completely off. While caring the cats they stop randomly on a grass block and wouldnt move, I dug under the grass block (about 5-6 blocks under) and my friends bed was there. They were only going for the bed. I am only use Vanilla 1.14.4 for my server with no datapacks. I had to break his bed so I could move the cats.
