Loading Issue

Whenever I launch minecraft, it loads for a little while and then stops near the end. It stops responding and I can't do anything other than use task manager to close it. I used to use mods on there, I had forge installed and used a bunch of mods. It loads if I switch compatability to windows vista then it loads the old launcher and it works fine, but I can't use mods.
