Cats and Dogs often won't teleport throug fences or closed doors.

Playing survival and also tested bug in creative.  I have tamed wolves and cats. When i have a cat or dog following me i find that they wont teleport to me when i get 12 blocks or more away from them. Because of this they often get stuck inside the house if i close the door before they get out or inside fences if i close the gate before they get out. I can also outrun them in for example a forests or over a mountain and they won't teleport to me.
