Blacksmith villager menu opens and instantly closes

So i've been playing for a day and i've been trading with this one villager. now i can finally get some good stuff out of him and now when i right click on the villager it closes the menu instantly so i cant buy anything.... this is incredibly frustrating because this is the only villager with good stuff...
