when using large redstone contraptions all of the sound goes away not just on minecraft but on my entire computer

When I use a large redstone contraption ,after a random amount of time (it can be 5 minutes -half an hour depending on how complex it is, the more complex the more likely it is to happen) all of the sound goes away on my entire computer and I have to restart it to get it working again. It will also still go away again after restating.
