Unable to spawn iron golem

I tried to spawn an iron golem in a village, however I wasn’t able to spawn one one until I turned which and every direction. This was getting annoying, so I thought this was a bug. I first tried spawning one in the negative Z axis, then the negative X, then positive Z, then finally positive X worked. Please resolve this
