Minecraft Launcher Not Connecting

I recently got my Minecraft Launcher updated to the new 2019 look. When I tired to hop on a friends server it said invalid session, try restarting your game. So I did, but I noticed the play button said offline, so I hit the button in the top left to reconnect, but it failed to reconnect. The launcher freezes up when I hit connect, and I have no idea what's happening. I tried logging out of my account, but when I put in my info, it says make sure you are online and try again. My internet is fine, like I'm typing this right now so what the heck.
