Villagers spawn stuck in the slab roofs sometimes

I was casually playing minecraft then built an afk fishing farm, I went afk fishing with a mending rod for a few hours and came back but my village was completely deserted, i shrugged it off thinking they died and went ahead and started enchanting some stuff but saw a villaer's head in the window. This was also strange as the crops were also fully grown. I went through each house and found that the villagers were stuck partially in the wall or inside the ceiling.
