Pufferfish Deal damage through blocks

I made an aquarium in my survival level. Everything's great. But if I walk anywhere near it I get poisoned. All the fist are separated by full-sized glass blocks (ie; NOT glass panes)
I don't mind them puffing up if a player gets near (this would make sense), but they shouldn't be able to hurt you.
