Placing item frames crashes the game

Placing item frames in any rotation, on any face of a block in Minecraft 1.14.3 Pre-Release 3 causes the game to crash. The launcher provides me with this:

"The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Unexpected error"

 

I have tested it again in the same world with the following versions:

• 1.14.2
• 1.14.3 Pre-Release 1 and
• 1.14.3 Pre-Release 2

and placing item frames is fine. I even created a new world, and it still crashed. I am unable to summon in item frames in Pre-Release 3, and any previous item frames from other versions are not there, when loading the world in 1.14.3 Pre-Release 3.
