Boating Issue

When I try to get out of a boat after going long distances in it, I get stuck in place bouncing up and down. I'm stuck standing in the boat, but its not there. When I try to destroy the invisible boat it only hits the blocks below it. I waited about 5 minutes for the boat to catch up but it didn't. I had to exit and reenter my game to fix it.
