No sound plays for music, user activity (like breaking a block or walking)

found when playing creative, survival, or on servers that only mob generated sounds play along with rain. Any user activity like breaking a block the sound does not play. i check my .minecraft folder and there was a extra folder that had been made by @dinnerbone and it had alternative sounds and had instructions to move all of the file to the u3sound folder which is located in the resources folder. I opened minecraft on my friends computer also running on windows 7 with the same java version installed and sounds still wouldnt play. I downgraded to 1.5.1 and everything worked until 1.5.2 which was the sound that fails. also the music doesnt work in 1.5.2
