Armor stands that are on top of pressure plates stop powering them over time

After leaving two armor stands on a pressure plate that powered a redstone lamp, I came back and discovered that the lamps were no longer powered and that the pressure plate was no longer pushed down. It appears as though the armor stands have clipped through the pressure plate. Maybe this occurs after reloading chunks? Does the oak fence I pushed on top have something to do with it too?
