sunlight going through blocks

What I expected to happen was...:
it being completely pitch black

What actually happened was...:
sunlight going through the block as if it was a glass block

Steps to Reproduce:
1: go through a portal from far away

2: if your lucky and you have a mob farm like this the sunlight will just go through the block and burn the skeletons/zombies you have there
