Gravel goes invisible when Broken in Quick Succession

When breaking gravel in quick succession (ie. create a tower of gravel, break downwards) a few of the blocks may go invisible. This will cause the player to become trapped, and they can only move side to side very slowly, and cannot jump. The blocks cannot be broken/interacted with, and the only fix I've found is to reload the world.
