Villagers Disappearing

I started a new world and found two villages right next to each other, great! I played the world for a couple hours and when I went to trade with the Villagers they were all gone. There is no chance that they were all killed by mobs or pillagers because I was playing on Peaceful. Really annoying issue and would be great if it was fixed ASAP so I can have more fun with Villages, thanks.
