When typing in signs if you hit space it closes the window and "finishes" the sign

While i was trying to put spaces between words on a sign i found that hitting space would close/"finish" the sign. I cant remember that always being a thing but it was very frustrating because i would keep hitting space and have to break and rewrite the sign.
